RE: Teen Pregnancy

Over the years teen pregnancy has grown. The U.S. has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the industrialized world, twice as high as in England or Canada, and ten times higher as in Switzerland. The teen pregnancy agencies aren’t being loud enough! El Paso has a lot of teenage girls that end up pregnant. Most of the high schools have fifteen to twenty girls pregnant.

Advocates for Youth is an organization that focuses in teaching the values of sex to the underage. Since its founding in 1980, three decades has passed.  The organization has worked tirelessly to promote effective adolescent pregnancy sexual health programs and policies in the United States and in the lower and middle countries. They want to make sure that all people from all countries and societies have access to science-based and accurate information and the confidential health care services, including access to contraception and condoms they need to protect themselves against sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, and pregnancy.

This organization has what they call the vision, three r’s. Rights, Respect, and Responsibility. They believe any one has the right to ask for information. It doesn’t matter how young or how old they are, they will take any question with open ears. They believe valuing young people means involving them in the design, everybody deserves respect. They also believe society has the responsibility to make this world a better place for the future, by providing information and making ourselves less ignorant.

Parents sometimes have trouble talking to their children about sex and how to be safe, and as well as children don’t feel comfortable hearing their parents talk about sex. Advocates for Youth provides training and assistance to parents all over the country on how to speak fluently to their kids. They also give us the chance to help out and take action by posting current actions that are happening all over the world, most of them you can do it from the comfort of your living room.

The Advocates for Youth may be contacted by a direct e mail, the website is http://www.advocatesforyouth.org/about-us/contact, or by phone 202.419.3420. This organization focuses on the understanding of being responsible, making the right choices, and fully understanding what teenage pregnancy is.
